David Magrino, 48, also was charged with failure to maintain a single lane after the driver’s side of his van struck the rear driver’s side of the bus, which was headed west on West Avery Street on Tuesday, the FHP said.

A witness told troopers that Magrino veered off the road as he headed east on Green Street then steered back onto road hitting the bus.

There were five Pine Forest High School students on the bus, and one suffered minor injuries. The bus driver’s assistant, Virginia Evans, 58, also suffered minor injures, the FHP said. The driver of the bus, Anna Marie Bingham, 42, and the other four students aboard were not injured.

An official of the Orange County Public Schools said 26 students were on board the bus during the Monday morning crash. The injured students were taken to a local hospital, but their conditions have not been released.

Another bus arrived and took the other 19 students to school at the Ocoee Middle School.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said it happened shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday.

A 39-year-old man driving a Toyota pickup truck north on Cooper Creek Boulevard east of Charleston Street reportedly failed to turn at a curve, continuing to travel straight ahead and struck a curb.

The truck’s right front hit some shrubbery, then a tree.

According to reports, the vehicle spun around the tree, coming to rest on the east shoulder of Copper Creek Boulevard.

The truck then caught fire after the crash.

When troopers arrived at the scene, the driver had escaped from the vehicle, but suffered serious injuries.

He was transported to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for treatment.

The passenger, 28-year-old Haudrey F. Figueurdo, was trapped inside the truck and died from injuries suffered in the accident.

FHP investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened, but no charges have been filed at this time.

According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, seven people have been hospitalized, six of whom were sent to trauma centers. A child was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital as a trauma alert.

Fire rescue said only one patient was airlifted because bad weather prevented additional helicopters.

Florida Highway Patrol said one person was ejected in the crash, which occurred near Port St. John in Brevard County.

Traffic is still backed up in the area.

The driver of the semi truck refused any medical treatment.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported seven people were involved in the crash on the 6700 block of  Silver Star Road around 10 a.m. Thursday.

Troopers told News 13 a gold Buick crossed in front of the LYNX bus, causing some minor damage to the back of the Buick.

The driver of the car was not seriously hurt. She had two small children in the back seat, who were also not injured.

Police said four people were hospitalized as a precautionary measure, but all seemed to be OK.

The crash occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday about 3 miles south of Benson, killing passengers Cody DeVaan, 16, of rural DeGraff, and Benjamin Mast, 15, of Benson, said Swift County Chief Deputy John Holtz.

The driver, Justin Moist, 17, of rural Benson, was seriously injured and taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

DeVaan and Mast were sophomores at Benson High School. Moist is a junior.

“The tragic automobile crash … left all of us at Benson Public Schools shocked and saddened,” Superintendent Lee Westrum said, adding that all after-school activities were called off Thursday.

“We opened the school up right away [Wednesday],” Westrum said. A crisis team of ministers, counselors and teachers was assembled, and several dozen kids “came up here and gathered.”

Westrum said DeVaan played on the sophomore football team and was described by his coach as “respectful, polite, a hard worker.”

Mast, a lover of hunting and fishing, was remembered by one of his teachers as having a “great sense of humor” who enjoyed kidding around with the staff and other students, the superintendent said.

Westrum said that Moist is “responsive and recovering. Hopefully, he’ll be out in a week.”

According to Holtz:

Moist’s car was heading north on 30th Avenue SE., and approached a yield sign at the intersection with 40th Street SE. The truck had no sign or signal to observe. The car struck the westbound truck near its left rear wheel.

DeVaan and Mast were thrown from the car. Moist was buckled in and remained behind the wheel after the crash. While Holtz said he didn’t know whether DeVaan and Mast were wearing their seat belts, he added that its rare for occupants to be thrown from a vehicle while buckled up.

The man drove into the back of a Palm Tran bus Wednesday night on South Congress Avenue, between Lake Worth Road and Sixth Avenue South.

The man was flown by Trauma Hawk to Delray Medical Center, where he later died, according to Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue Capt. Don Delucia.

A passenger on the bus was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment.
