tractor trailer crash closes highway

Southbound lanes of Interstate 95 have reopened near mile marker 209 after a crash involving a pickup truck, a car and a tractor-trailer.

According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, seven people have been hospitalized, six of whom were sent to trauma centers. A child was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital as a trauma alert.

Fire rescue said only one patient was airlifted because bad weather prevented additional helicopters.

Florida Highway Patrol said one person was ejected in the crash, which occurred near Port St. John in Brevard County.

Traffic is still backed up in the area.

The driver of the semi truck refused any medical treatment.
